Donation Policy

Last updated: 20 July 2026

This Donation Policy explains how we accept, acknowledge, use and safeguard the gifts entrusted to us. It reflects our commitment to using every contribution honestly and effectively, and to complying with Indian law, including the Income Tax Act, 1961, the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 and applicable anti-money-laundering requirements. It should be read together with our Refund & Cancellation Policy and Privacy Policy.

1. Who can donate

Any individual or entity that is legally permitted to make a donation under Indian law may support our work. By donating, you confirm that the funds are from a lawful source, are your own or that you are authorised to give them, and that your donation does not violate any law applicable to you.

2. Indian donations only (foreign contributions)

At present we accept donations only from Indian sources — that is, from Indian citizens, entities and funds within the meaning of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (“FCRA”).

We are not currently registered under the FCRA and therefore cannot accept “foreign contributions” as defined in that Act, including donations from foreign nationals, foreign entities, or non-resident Indians holding foreign passports. Please do not make a foreign contribution to us until we confirm that we hold valid FCRA registration. If we receive a contribution we are not permitted to accept, we will decline or return it.

3. How donations are used

Donations support our charitable programmes for women’s health, children’s education, farmer livelihoods and disaster relief among the migrant sugarcane families of Marathwada, Maharashtra, and the running costs reasonably necessary to deliver that work. We apply funds prudently and only towards our charitable objects.

4. Earmarked and restricted gifts

Where you ask us to direct a gift to a specific programme, we will use it for that purpose. If that purpose is already fully funded, is no longer feasible, or the amount cannot reasonably be applied as intended, we will contact you where practicable, or apply the gift to a closely related purpose in keeping with your intent and our charitable objects.

5. Tax exemption and receipts (80G)

Donations to Abhijeet Sevabhavi are eligible for deduction under Section 80G of the Income Tax Act, 1961, subject to the conditions of that section and our valid approval. [80G approval number and validity: to be confirmed.]

To issue a valid 80G receipt we require your name, address and Permanent Account Number (PAN). As required by law, we file a statement of donations (Form 10BD) and issue the donation certificate (Form 10BE) for eligible gifts. Please ensure the details you give us are accurate, as the deduction depends on them.

6. Cash and anonymous donations

To comply with tax law, deductions under Section 80G are not available for cash donations above the limit prescribed by law (currently ₹2,000); such larger gifts should be made by traceable means such as UPI, net-banking, cheque or card. We discourage anonymous donations; anonymous donations may attract tax under Section 115BBC of the Income Tax Act, 1961, and we may decline gifts whose source or purpose we cannot reasonably verify.

7. Source of funds and refusal of donations

We reserve the right to decline, or to return, any donation — for example where the source appears unlawful, where accepting it would breach any law, where it comes with conditions inconsistent with our values or charitable objects, or where it could harm our independence, reputation or the communities we serve. Declining a donation is at our sole discretion and implies no judgement of the donor.

8. In-kind and recurring donations

We may accept in-kind donations (goods or services) where they are useful to our work and lawful to receive; we may decline items we cannot use or store. If you set up a recurring (monthly) gift, it will continue until you cancel it, which you may do at any time as described in our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

9. Payment processing and security

Online donations are processed by a third-party payment service provider on secure, encrypted infrastructure. We do not store your full card, UPI or bank credentials. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle donation data.

10. Donor privacy and recognition

We treat donor information as confidential and handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We will not publish your name as a donor without your consent, and you may ask to remain anonymous in our public acknowledgements (this is separate from the tax rules on anonymous donations in Section 6).

11. Transparency

We keep proper books of account, have them audited, and report on the use of funds in our annual report and statutory filings. You may ask us for a summary of how funds are used by writing to hello@abhijeetsevabhavi.org.

12. Contact
