Privacy Policy

Abhijeet Bahuuddeshiya Sevabhavi Sanstha (“Abhijeet Sevabhavi”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is a charitable organisation registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 (Registration No. MAHA/18/2013), with its registered office at Ajintha Nagar, Wangi Road, Parbhani, Maharashtra 431401, India.

For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”), we act as the Data Fiduciary that determines the purpose and means of processing your personal data. This means we are responsible for your data and accountable for how it is handled.

This Policy applies to personal data we collect through this website (abhijeetsevabhavi.org), through our contact, enquiry, volunteer, partnership and donation forms, through our newsletter, and through any related communication by email, telephone or messaging.

This Policy does not apply to personal data processed by third-party websites we link to, or to information you share on external platforms (such as social media), which are governed by their own privacy policies.

We collect only the data we need for a clearly identified purpose. Depending on how you interact with us, this may include:

(a) Identity and contact data — your name, email address, postal address, telephone number, city and organisation name.

(b) Correspondence data — the content of any message, enquiry, application or feedback you send us.

(c) Volunteer and partnership data — your area of interest, availability, skills or profession, and organisation type, where you offer to help.

(d) Donation data — the amount, frequency and purpose of a gift, and where you request an income-tax receipt, the details required by law such as your Permanent Account Number (PAN) and address. Payment card, UPI and bank details are processed directly by our payment service provider and are not stored by us (see Section 8).

(e) Technical and usage data — your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed and referring pages, collected through cookies and similar technologies, and only to the extent you have consented (see our Cookie Policy).

We collect data directly from you when you complete a form, subscribe to our newsletter, make or pledge a donation, apply to volunteer or partner, or contact us. We also collect certain technical data automatically through cookies and analytics tools, subject to your consent. We do not buy personal data from, or acquire it through, data brokers.

We process your personal data only for lawful, specified purposes, and on the basis of your consent or as otherwise permitted by the DPDP Act (including certain legitimate uses recognised by law). Our purposes are:

— to respond to your enquiries and communicate with you;

— to process and acknowledge donations, issue receipts and comply with tax and accounting law;

— to assess and manage volunteer and partnership offers;

— to send you newsletters and updates you have asked to receive;

— to operate, maintain, secure and improve this website;

— to comply with our legal, regulatory and reporting obligations.

When you give consent, you may withdraw it at any time (see Section 11). Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out, and we may retain certain data where the law requires.

Where we rely on your consent, we ask for it through a clear, affirmative action — for example, ticking a box or submitting a form after being shown this notice. We do not pre-tick consent boxes or bundle unrelated consents together.

You may withdraw your consent, or object to a particular use of your data, at any time by writing to hello@abhijeetsevabhavi.org. The withdrawal will be as easy as giving consent was.

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We share it only in the following limited circumstances, and only to the extent necessary:

(a) Service providers (Data Processors) who process data on our behalf and under contract — such as our website host, email and newsletter platform, form and analytics providers, and payment gateway. They may act only on our instructions and must protect your data.

(b) Professional advisers — our auditors, chartered accountants and legal advisers, where reasonably required.

(c) Legal and regulatory authorities — where we are required to disclose data by law, by a court, or by a lawful government request, or to protect our rights, safety or property, or those of others.

We require every service provider to apply appropriate security safeguards and to use your data only for the agreed purpose.

When you donate online, payment is processed by a third-party payment service provider on their secure, encrypted infrastructure. We do not collect or store your full card number, CVV, UPI PIN, net-banking credentials or bank account password. We receive only limited confirmation data needed to acknowledge and reconcile your gift and to issue your receipt.

Details relevant to income-tax exemption (such as PAN and address) are retained for the period required under the Income Tax Act, 1961 and related rules.

We maintain reasonable security practices and procedures as required under Section 43A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the DPDP Act, proportionate to the nature of the data we hold. These include access controls, use of reputable and secured service providers, encryption of data in transit where appropriate, and limiting access to those who need it.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. In the event of a personal data breach, we will act promptly to contain it and will notify the Data Protection Board of India and affected individuals as required by law.

We keep personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected, or for as long as required to comply with legal, tax, audit and regulatory obligations, after which it is securely deleted or anonymised.

For example, donation and receipt records are retained for the period prescribed by tax law; newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe; and general enquiry data is kept only for as long as needed to deal with your request.

Under the DPDP Act, you (the “Data Principal”) have the right to:

— access a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how we process it;

— correct, complete or update inaccurate or incomplete data;

— request erasure of your personal data where it is no longer required for the purpose it was collected;

— withdraw your consent at any time;

— nominate another person to exercise your rights in the event of your death or incapacity;

— a readily available means of grievance redressal (see Section 13).

To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@abhijeetsevabhavi.org. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request, and we will respond within a reasonable time and within any period prescribed by law. These rights are subject to the exceptions permitted under the DPDP Act.

We do not knowingly collect the personal data of children (persons under 18 years of age) through this website without the verifiable consent of a parent or lawful guardian, as required by the DPDP Act. We do not undertake tracking, behavioural monitoring or targeted advertising directed at children.

If you believe a child has provided us personal data without appropriate consent, please write to hello@abhijeetsevabhavi.org and we will delete it.

We will acknowledge your grievance promptly and endeavour to resolve it within the timelines set out in our Grievance Redressal Policy. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may make a complaint to the Data Protection Board of India in accordance with the DPDP Act.

Some of our service providers may process data on servers located outside India. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your data continues to be protected and that any transfer complies with the DPDP Act and any restrictions notified by the Central Government.

Our website may contain links to third-party websites and services. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices, and this Policy does not apply to them. We encourage you to read the privacy policy of any website you visit.

We may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in law or in our practices. We will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, we will bring them to your attention on the website. Your continued use of the website after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
